Giddings & Lewis ball screws are usually larger then your average machine. We have the expertise and experience to get your machine back into production with minimal downtime. All G&L screws come with an adjustment in the center nut which makes them one of the best designed ball screws we've ever seen. Yet when you are over adjusted and there is still play, you need a company who is familiar with the special design, return mechanism, and will repair your ball screw with the adjustment wide open, so in the future you can adjust as needed.

Most repair companies will do a minimal repair and make the adjustment to the tightest setting, not allowing you to set or adjust it in the future. When Mitchell Precision performs a rebuild on a G&L, the adjustment is wide open because we do a complete rebuild right back to factory specs and this will allow you to set your preload adjustment to any setting you want. We have extensive experience with Giddings & Lewis ball screws, their split nut design, special return mechanism (the best we've seen in any design) and shimming techniques.
